40 Studios Over Two Floors

Studio Space Ottawa operates as an arts-service organization renting studio spaces to practicing and professional visual artists. We currently maintain 40 studios over two floors at 2477-A Kaladar Avenue.


The first floor accommodates ceramics, printmaking, and sculptural practices. The second floor is home to painting, drawing, mixed media, analogue and digital photography, textile, and installation work.


Studios range from 127 sq ft to 773 sq ft, and are priced from approximately $260 to $1,100 per month. Rent covers heat/AC, hydro, janitorial services, toxic waste disposal, access to portable filtration units, Wi-Fi, HST, insurance, 24/7 access, and parking.

Do you have any studios available to rent?

The best approach is to complete our application form. When a studio becomes available, the space is first offered to current tenants, then to artists on the pre-approved waiting list. Join the waitlist below to be considered when the next space opens up.

How much does a studio cost?

Studios range from 127 sq ft to 773 sq ft and are priced from approximately $260 to $1,100 per month. Rent includes heat/AC, hydro, janitorial services, toxic waste disposal, access to portable filtration units, Wi-Fi, HST, insurance, 24/7 access, and parking.

What are the lease terms?

Studios are rented on one-year renewable lease terms.

Who is eligible to apply?

SSO uses the Canada Council for the Arts definition of a professional artist. Eligible applicants include established, mid-career, or emerging professional visual artists whose work derives from an independent and personal art practice. Artists must be actively pursuing their art practice for a minimum of two years. Recent post-secondary Visual Arts graduates and self-taught artists qualify. Hobby or commercial enterprises, for-profit entities, and full-time students are not eligible.

What media are accepted?

Painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, textiles, installation, sculpture, ceramics, craft, mixed media, photography, performance art, and new media.

Do you have regular programming?

In addition to providing working spaces for working artists, we also provide regular programming throughout the year including open studios, a warehouse art party, artists' talks, and workshops.

Is the building accessible?

SSO supports access for people of all abilities. Our facilities are not fully accessible at this time, but this is something we will address as we modify our space.
